Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired

Hi friends. I’m not doing so well at keeping this blog regularly updated, mainly because I’ve been sick as a dog.

Topsail Hill Preserve

Angela and I ended up with a day without the kids a little over a week ago, so we took a day trip down to Topsail Hill Preserve in Florida. It was a gorgeous day for hiking and beach. We hiked about three miles along the preserve’s South Turpentine loop, and then crashed at a coffee shop for the hotter part of the day before hitting up the beach a little before sunset. I gathered a small handful of shells that I’m planning on doing some craft stuff with, whenever I get back on my feet.

See, I ended up getting a gnarly sunburn, and by the time we got home, my throat was raw and I was feeling horrible. Angela doctored me up and fed me pizza, and I felt a little better in the morning, but not for long.

We’ve had an early spring down here in the south. Pollen is everywhere. I’m not sure if it’s the allergies or what, but it kicked off a hellish sinus infection that has totally knocked me on my ass since then. I’m no stranger to sinus infections — I get them a handful of times a year — so I usually just doctor them at home with lots of hot tea, lemon, and honey.

But this one has been a lot worse than normal, and the sinus infection led to an ear infection. When I woke up with my left ear feeling like it was going to explode in my skull, I finally broke down and went to the doctor for a steroid shot and some antibiotics.

It’s been about five days since then, and I’m only just now starting to feel a little bit human. I can breathe easier, and my ear is less painful — although there’s still a constant pressure in it from fluid buildup.

I Miss My Kids

I’ve been staying with my folks throughout the time I’ve been sick. Partially because I was here when I got so sick, and haven’t had the energy to go anywhere else. So I haven’t seen the girls in more than a week and a half. Angela did send me some videos of them telling me they loved me, which really helped bolster my spirits.

Angela is taking the girls to see a production of Goldilocks on Friday at a local high school. I’m hoping I’ll get to see her that evening, but the kids will probably be at their dads, so I’m not sure when I’ll see them again.

Angela’s work schedule has picked up a lot, too — which is a good thing, because it means more income — but it’s made it difficult for us to schedule times for us to see each other. I told her last night that if push comes to shove, I’ll come to the store and we can sit together in the car while she has her breaks. Haha.

I know this is a short update, but I don’t really have the energy for a long one. Just wanted to say that, yeah, I’m still alive, and I haven’t abandoned this blog. Stay tuned for more!
